Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780 – Great Value

According to retail sales figures, the Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780  is the best selling Home BP monitor ever made. Last year I reviewed this very same monitor, and though I was quite pleased with its features and performance, its price excluded it from contention as a best value. Well, ladies and gentleman I am now pleased to award the Omron HEM-780 Blood Pressure Monitor with the very prestigious honor (of bestowing upon it) ‘the bed pans lifted to the most high, bed pans lifted to the sky award’ for the best value in a blood pressure monitor under $100.

What changed? You might ask. The last time I reviewed this BP monitor, it was selling for $99.99 and just made the cut for being a sub $100 monitor. At that time, there were other monitors slightly lower in price that offered equal or comparable performance; therefore, I considered those models an overall better value than the Omron HEM-780 monitor. Maybe Omron saw the review; because the price has tumbled considerably since then. With many e-tailers offering this monitor for $65 to $80 depending on the package, the decision to make this my choice for the Best Value was a no brainer.

Just in case you missed last year’s review of the Omron Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780, I will summarize our findings from the review. I can’t possible cover all of the important features of this truly excellent monitor; so, I will just touch on a few of the best ones.

While the HEM-780 boasts many useful features; the most important is its use of Morning Hypertension detection technology. I cannot begin to tell you how important this feature could possibly be. Morning Hypertension, or an elevated morning blood pressure level, is one of the leading indicators and warning signs of potential stroke or heart attack. Knowing about this type of hypertension early, and then seeing your physician for additional diagnosis, may possibly save your life. I have talked about this technology before; however, I can never stress enough how valuable it can be.

Another very useful feature is the large comfit cuff the Omron HEM-780 home blood pressure monitor uses. The large, adaptable cuff enables even large men or women to comfortably use it. I am a pretty big guy myself, and the cuff fit easily with plenty of room to spare. Also, I like the fact the cuff is very stiff, and not one of those plushy, mushy type things. Those baby soft cuffs feel nice; but they do not provide nearly as accurate results as the stiffer ones.

This unit is built like a tank, and designed to last a long, long time. The huge LED Display makes for easy reading of pressure check results. If this machine would have used a tad bit longer tube, from the cuff to the machine, then this monitor would be perfect.

Regardless, this is the best value for any health care product I have seen in a long while. It is accurate, dependable and extremely well made. Therefore, let all others be made aware that the new king of sub $100 BP monitors is the Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780 .

Unhealthy Lifestyle Of Truckers Make Health Care Insurance Important

One of the most dangerous occupations in the world is driving a truck. Why would it be so dangerous, you might ask? You see there are several truck drivers who die because of highway accidents. Even the most careful truck drivers are not guaranteed that they will not encounter issues on the road. This is just one of many reasons why drivers need to have good health insurance to cover them while they are on the road. Health insurance for truckers is very difficult to obtain

There are several different types of good health insurance that drivers might be able to get. If you want to make sure that you get the most out of your health benefits, it is highly recommended that you consult an insurance expert. This is necessary to know which good health insurance for drivers is the most appropriate for you.

Because of the way of life that many drivers live, they typically will have serious health problems. For this reason, it is really important to have a health plan that would cover your health benefits in case you encounter some health-related problems along the way. You should seek out a plan that will not only cover hospitalization expenses, but also testing, x-rays, and doctor office visits. You also need prescription help.

There are many different factors to take into consideration when you are looking for a health insurance plan. Not all health insurance policies are expensive. There is good health insurance for truck drivers which are affordable. You need to make sure that you chose a plan that will give you the best benefits that you can afford. There are many insurance policies to choose from so be careful in your selection.

Truck drivers that haven’t been treated for sleep disorders , such as sleep apnea, are a serious threat to themselves and others that are traveling our highway system. Truck driver exhaustion is responsible for roughly 100,000 vehicle accidents and over 1,500 deaths each year and the NHTSA says that the expense of drowsy driving is over $12 billion a year. The Situational Functioning of the untreated truck driver is comparable to that of a person with a .06 – .08 Blood Alcohol Content level. As you can see, sleep apnea in the trucking industry is a problem.

It is of great concern that truck drivers with OSA time and again minimize and underreport their signs such as snoring and daytime lethargy for worry of losing their employment. With limited physical activity, irregular schedules and a high fat diet, the trucking way of life is very harmful. These are the factors which puts most truck drivers in a high-risk category. While the trucking lifestyle per se isn’t directly responsible for sleep apnea, it contributes greatly to it.

Cure Social Anxiety

Social anxiety disorder is a phobia that many people have recovered from. It is not always very easy to do and can feel an almost insurmountable task when the anxiety sufferer comes against one difficult situation after another. However, the situation can be cured in a reasonably short time if they have the right kind of help. Different people respond better to different types of help. If a person is extremely phobic then they may need medical assistance to enable any form of therapy to commence. The brain needs a decent supply of dopamine otherwise a deep depressive state takes hold.Click on the links in this article to find something about anxiety hypnotherapy .

The benefits of online counseling from the privacy of your own home or business have become reliable, safe and most often less expensive than the cost of conventional counseling clinics. These services are used just like a source of personal growth through problem identification and problem solving. No one may know or can see that you are receiving professional consultation or mental health advice. Most of the people who ask for help find the online anonymity comfortable and useful. This anonymous approach has a powerful impact, because people are sometimes more willing to disclose their private and personal information, which is a vital element for any successful counseling.

Now there is no real definite answer when it comes to cure panic attacks because you cannot ever completely cure them. Basically panic attacks can take place at any time and for any reason. Every single person suffers from panic attacks for different reasons. So in order to understand your panic attacks, you should first recognize when it is that you seem to suffer from them the most. Once you know how severe your attacks are and when they tend to occur, it is then that you can truly look into how to cure panic attack.

Health Care Survey Of Workers Delivers Insight To Participation In Employer Provided Programs

How workers view health care is looked out in a new survey conducted by the National Business Group and Hewitt. These insights are critical for businesses to be aware of as they examine their present and future health care plans. Help for prescription medicines is high on the list.

Despite the fact that workers say they might know how to get healthy, many aren’t taking action to do so. Seventy two percent of the workers surveyed believe that getting regular preventive care will result in good health. Another 84% think that making wise decisions in their daily life will lead to overall good health. Only 46% of the workers surveyed reported doing a “great” or “good job” of regular working out and only about half of the employees think they do a “great” or good job” of eating healthy. To help with the expensive prices of medicines, most workers surveyed ranked prescription program assistance pretty high.

Despite the fact that satisfaction is generally high in health programs, participation is low. Workers and dependents say they might know what actions they need to take to get and stay healthy, but participation in many employer-provided health enhancement programs is not as high as employers would like. The most popular programs include biometric screenings (61%), followed by online health information tools (53%) and health risk questionnaires (41%). The least popular programs were stress management programs and employee assistance programs. For workers that have dependent coverage, a prescription program was the number one satisfying benefit.

Financial motivation is a strong factor in participation but non financial, internal motivators can be just as effective. Frequently, employers assume that providing financial incentives for participating in programs will increase participation. Citing that it is “the right thing to do”, close to half of all workers surveyed would complete a health risk questionnaire About 30% of the participants would complete a survey if there was a penalty for not doing so and an additional 30% would do it if there was a monetary incentive involved. In addition, 44% of the workers surveyed said they would be willing to participate in a wellness program furnished by their employer because “it’s the right thing to do”.

The EmWave Personal Stress Reliever Versus The RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device

Today, we will be performing a comparison review of two products we have previously looked at: the emWave Personal Stress Reliever and the RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device. I should start by telling you that both products are very good at delivering on their claims and much effort has been used to produce an objective report. Both the emWave and RESPeRATE devices are similar in some primary respects – albeit, very different in others. Regardless, both of the devices do an excellent job at helping to relieve stress, which in turn also helps to lower blood pressure.

The Similarities

I guess it will be easiest if I first tell you about how the two devices are similar. Both the emWave and RESPeRATE devices allow you to lower blood pressure and stress levels by helping you learn to control and slow your breathing pattern. The concept is nothing new and is one that has been taught in Yoga and other self meditation disciplines for centuries.

The idea is simple – if you can breathe in and out in a slower and more relaxed manner, your heart does not work as hard and you become calmer. The result is a much lower blood pressure and stress level. Although the process is simple enough to understand, many people find it hard to achieve without aid or instruction, and therein lies many people’s need for these types of devices.

Similar – But NOT Twins

Although both devices help you attain lower blood pressure and reduced stress by encouraging a more relaxed rate of breathing, the way the two machines handle the task is very different.

The emWave Way

The emWave device has a built in thumb sensor and the device converts the signals into blinking LED lights in order to help users control breathing. In order to use the device, a user must place his/her thumb on the sensor so that the machine can then detect the pulse rate of the user.

Once the device has accurately detected your pulse, it will begin to signal you – via the LED lights – when to breathe in and out, which will help you slow your breathing and enter a more relaxed state. Of course, when you begin to relax, your heart doesn’t have to work as hard and your blood pressure is lowered. For times when using the thumb sensor is not practical, the unit also has an ear sensor that you can use as an alternative.

The RESPeRATE Way

With the RESPeRATE device, you don’t use lights to help control your breathing. The RESPeRATE device detects your pulse by means of a sensor belt and guides your breathing with a series of musical tones.

To use the RESPeRATE device, you first place a sensor belt around your chest or waist that will detect your heartbeat and pulse. Next, you simply don the included headphones, and the machine will start to play two different musical tones. The first tone signals when you should breathe in and the second: when to breathe out.

Once the music starts playing, the RESPeRATE device will incrementally increase the duration of the tones until you are taking only about 10 breaths per minute – which is about the number of breaths you take when your are very relaxed or  asleep. Once the user has achieved the more relaxed breathing state, they will notice that stress is lowered as is blood pressure (just like the emWave device).

The Conclusion

Due to the fact that both machines are effective in relieving stress and lowering blood pressure, choosing which one is better is not that easy. Nevertheless, a comparison usually calls for a decision – so, this is mine:

If the $250 – $300 price of the RESPeRATE device doesn’t put you off, then you will probably find it easier and more convenient to use. The headphones and musical melodies will be more naturally relaxing for most versus a thumb or ear sensor and having to constantly stare at flashing lights. On the other hand, the $150 price tag of the emWave device makes it a much more attractive value in terms of affordability.  For some, the appeal of $100+ saving might be the decider.
