Feeling Dizzy, Are You Suffering From Low Blood Pressure?

We might listen to individuals speaking about high and low blood pressure and the consequence it has upon our well-being. High blood pressure is a more common symptom and heard of but what is low blood pressure?

The heart drives the blood around our body, ensuring that oxygenated blood is pumped around and the de-oxygenated blood is returned to the lungs.   The job the heart has to do and the amount of blood that flows is what we call blood pressure. Nobody has the indentical blood pressure rate and depending on what interest you are doing will depend on what level of blood pressure or how much oxygenated blood you require forced around your body.

Your blood pressure reading is made up of two numbers. The force of the blood being moved around your body is called the systolic figure in your blood pressure reading which is the top figure of the reading. The diastolic reading which is the bottom figure in a blood pressure reading represents the level of the pressure of your blood in your body during every heart beat. Be careful not to mix these readings and understandings up with your heart pulse rate which is the speed that your heart essentially beats and not the pressure of the blood moving around.

A usual blood pressure reading could be a reading with a systolic reading somewhere between 90 and 130 and a diastolic pressure reading of between 60 and 80. You are normally classed as having low blood pressure if your reading has a top figure  below 90 and a bottom figure  below 60. A reading with a systolic reading of 140 and above and a diastolic reading of 90 and above  would be classed as a high blood pressure recording. There are various different reasons which could change your blood pressure recording such as whether you are overweight or under pressure.  If you are out shopping (love shopping for women’s clothing and time just runs away and you realise you need to pick the children up from nursery, can cause you loads of pressure.

You don’t always get any symptoms if you are experiencing low blood pressure. However, everyday symptoms can be steady wooziness, lightheadedness and fainting, hazy vision, unpredictable heartbeat, sickness and weakness. If you experience from these symptoms regularly when you stand up, then there is a high possibility that you have low blood pressure. Low blood pressure when changing from these positions is more common in older people and can lead to falls. You tend to experience lightheadedness or faint because there is not enough oxygenated blood being passed to your brain cells, which is why people who suffer from low blood pressure when they move around or stand up, end up falling. If you have eaten, and start moving, you can find you suffer these woozy symptoms.   This is quite common with the elderly generation. The reason for this is that after a meal your intestines need a great quantity of blood for digestion. As your heart increases the rate it beats, to prevent low blood pressure being caused, your blood vessels will be required go lower in size to maintain a balanced pressure of blood circulating. If your blood vessels do not shrink appropriately and/or your heart rate does not increase enough, this is why your blood pressure will drop. If you suffer from low blood pressure, then merely by eating small amounts or not having such big periods of not eating can help big periods of not eating can help maintain your blood pressure and keep it balanced. You need to ensure that you drink enough as being deficient in fluids (dehydration) can be a reason for why you might not have enough blood to flow about your body.   Also this can bring about kidney defects  which can also contribute to the volume of blood in your body and alter your blood pressure. Low blood pressure caused by dehydration is more prone to patients who have had severe sickness or diarrhea.

If you have low blood pressure but do not experience any of these symptoms mentioned, then having low blood pressure does not really give you a trouble or need treating. If you change your habits and life-style, this can maintain and improve your blood pressure without the need of taking drugs.
